YCC Reunion 2007
What a weekend! It was great to see so many new and old faces! The weekend got off to a roaring start when
about 25 people showed up Friday. Usually dinner is an "on your own" thing, but with such a crowd Chief cook Lisa went into
the action. With the help of Grady with his famous sausage, and others a meal was put together in short order.
With Saturday a steady influx of folks just made the day! Work on new cages and fencing
for the animal compound, nature walks, kayaking on the lake, fishing, and Greg and Ryan smoking a variety of critters all
day led to a fun filled day for all!
Everyone had time to visit and catch up with old and new friends.
Saturday evening dinner turn into a Beast Feast! We had a wild hog, deer, whole beef briskets,
and Outback steaks(Thanks Ryan) with Lisa's famous baked beans, green beans, salad, and of course Shelby's Birthday Cake for
Dessert! We had about 48 folks partake in the feast.
And of course it wouldn't be camp if the evening didn't end with a campfire down by the lake. Marshmellows
were toasted, stories, and tall tales were told. Although there were some that stayed up late into the night, or was that
early morning, and you know who you are, most folks crashed by midnight.
Sunday saw more work on the compound and more socializing. What, let a little rain slow us down,
no way! Lisa and the kitchen crew provided a hearty breakfast and the rest of the day's meals were provided by the leftovers
from the sharing stew from Saturday's lunch and the Beast Feast .These also extended into Monday for those that stayed.
It was great to see so many people come out and enjoy the camp, each other, and the weekend.
It was nice to have a large contingent of younger people who have been staff members in the last few years come to the reunion,
they are the future of the camp and it was great to get to know them! As for blast from the past, Wayne Green(and his
wife) 73-74 and Anthony Clegorne 73-79 were there. It was great to see them.
